Southern Living Home

Saturday was a fun day as we spent the day with Stephanie, the girls, and Neil. The first stop of the day was in Taylor, MS to see the Southern Living Model Home. The home was full of ideas that I feel I could use if I ever decide to build another home; however, there were many things I did not like. I suppose the things I liked best about the house was the detached studio. I have always felt I needed a studio to feed my need for creativity. The design to me felt so cozy, a retreat from the craziness of like. I do not know if I will ever have a studio like that but it never hurts to dream of a sanctuary all my own where I could get lost in time. I have always liked a room or a studio to fulfill my creative side. With the chaos in life I face everyday, the creativity helps me to maintain my sanity. There are many times when Annacarmie tells me to go to my office and work on something. I may never have a studio like that one; however, if ever I sale my house I will definitely and have plans to include a detached studio in my next house, my own little place of retreat.
The porch was very nice with all the metal lighting and plant hangers. Some of the decorators did a good job but as a whole it was not my style. The window treatments were very nice. Many of them looked just like the ones I have just finished sewing for my house. I guess maybe my window treatments are in style right now even though that does not bother me. I like what I like and that is what I am going to use even if no one else likes it. I probably would have used more luscious fabrics that they used such as silks and brocades. I love the lusciousness of those fabrics.
One thing I found to be in style now is the use of twin beds in smaller bed rooms instead of a larger bed. That takes me back to an earlier time. I am not sure that I would like that in my home nut I can see where it would have merit.

There was a quaint little antique store and restaurant on the grounds of Plein Air. We visited both and will be returning again very soon I am sure. The restaurant was not serving lunch. We were too late. Next time we will get there earlier to eat there.

After leaving Taylor, we headed to Oxford for shopping on the square. The only purchases I made included a church blanket for Makenna Kate and water for Annacarmie so that she did not dehydrate. That would not have been a good thing as close to delivery as she is.

We had dinner at Ajax, a restaurant that is highly rated by Food Network. We were not disappointed in the food.

More shopping after dinner at Belks proved to be a good decision. Neil found him a belt, Stephanie needed some new sandals and I found several pieces that were on sale. Very seldom do I ever buy anything that is not on sale and this was no exception.

On the way back home, the girls decided they wanted a cake; therefore, we stopped by Kroger at 10pm to get what we needed to make a cake. The cake was ready by 11pm and yes we ate cake at 11pm. Yeah, I know that is not a good thing to do but it was so good, just ask Taylor. She ate two large pieces of cake. I do not know how she eats all she does.

The day was such a sweet time and I spent it with the girls and granddaughter, truly one of the blessings of life I never want to miss out on. There are many places we want to go and many things we want to do. Where will the next adventure take us?
