Jesus--the real reason

This is the first year Makenna has really begun to understand the reason we celebrate Christmas, the baby born in a stable in Bethlehem, the Savior of the world.  Reinforcing Jesus as the reason we celebrate Christmas was extremely important to me this year. There were many activities we did to reinforce that such as; painting Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus on pieces of wood,  a Happy Birthday Jesus party, telling the story numerous times using a Nativity set that she could touch, feel and hold, sang songs, read about Jesus, and dressed as angels and shepherds to tell the story.

     Even though Christmas is over, Makenna still sings the song we learned about Mary riding the donkey and Baby Jesus laying in the manger.  That song is such a sweet sound to my ears because I know my precious baby girl is learning the foundations of a faith in Jesus Christ. May He have all the glory and honor forever and ever.

     I want to continue to teach Makenna these basic biblical principals, the foundation of our faith.  It is my prayer one day these biblical principals will be a very vital part of who she is and everything she does.  As adults we are charged to do just that.

               Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when  walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on  your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your homes and on your gates. Deutronomy 6:7-9

 

FBC Preschool Christmas

 We have been blessed greatly this year with a wonderful school year.  Mrs. Amy and Mrs. Lil have been just what she needed to grow and blossom.  They have taught Makenna so much, but it would be hard for anyone to tell that because she refuses to sing when the sing for the parents.  The children sang Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer which Makenna knows very well but did she sing one word of the song, no.  After singing, the children celebrated Jesus birthday with a party and a Happy Birthday cake.

 Makenna enjoys school and all the activities associated with school.  When she is in school she thrives on all the arts and crafts.  That sounds very familiar, if I do not take time to be creative on a regular basis I begin to feel stifled.  Things are not right in my world until I can use the creativity God gave me on a regular basis.  I do believe I have a little creative spirit on my hands.  Thank you God, because I do know what to do and how to nurture that in Makenna.

Makenna enjoys all the children at school but she always seems to relate better to the boys and plays better with boys.  Guess that comes from being raised with boys cousins who are very close in age to her.

Painting Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus

 I am not nearly as bad as I  used to be.  In the past, the floor and the bar would have been completely covered in plastic as would Makenna in order to paint.  I have come to realize it cleans up fairly easy.  We are making sweet memories.   Paint baby girl, paint!

Wucy as we call her

We came home on Dec 1 to find a package at our front door for Makenna.  She could not wait to open the box to see what was in there.  To her surprise it was an elf n the shelf.  She quickly learned the elf had to come to visit and would be making trips to the North Pole to tell Santa if she had been good or not.  She named her elf Lucy, but she has trouble with "L" so it always came out Wucy.  We have had trouble understanding it is not good to waste toilet tissue so Lucy spent a lot of time  in the bathroom being sure we did not waste toilet tissue.  Lucy got into a lot mischief while she was here and I have to say we were all sad to see Lucy go back to the North Pole after Christmas.  We are looking forward to Lucy's return next December.
